Why anti-virus software needs to be more effective
Like the man said, you only get what you pay for, and that rule certainly applies when it comes down to which anti-virus might suit you best. These days when the cyber-criminals are becoming increasingly more active and innovative in their never ending attempts to invade our computers, anyone who still insists in burying their head in the sand regarding the issue is simply inviting disaster on themselves.
There are even others who have lulled themselves into a very false sense of security by finding or being offered a free virus software protection program, believing that they have now joined the ranks of the protected. Nothing could be further from the truth, as a very large percentage of the shareware programs are actually fronts for adware and malware viruses and will do considerable damage and absolutely no good for any computer that uploads this tainted software.
Thankfully the number of computer owners world-wide who realise the dangers of being unprotected and that being protected cost money are investing in professional software programs that will keep these viruses at bay. What makes the whole issue of virus protection increasingly complicated is that viruses come in so many forms; there are very few programs that offer an inclusive package deal against all of these potential threats.
What a person needs to install on their computer is an anti-virus program that also provides protection against spyware, rootkits, malware, botnets, spam and others. There are a few programs that perform very well against one form of virus but are largely impotent against another. This is also a dangerous situation as a computer owner might feel that they are totally protected, while in actual fact, their back door may well be wide open to whole list of threats.
Computer owners who need and want to take their security seriously have long since discovered that when it comes down to virus protection no investment is too large. The risks that a person takes by not being totally protected against the vast array of virus threats of the twenty-first century makes the money spent on a top range constantly evolving and updating ant-virus program seem like peanuts.
In the US there is Government voices being heard that say that ISP companies should check that a computer address has to have proper and efficient anti-virus software installed before they can connect to the internet. How long before it happens here.
