Don't Wait Till it's too Late to Discover a Computer Virus
Computer viruses can be a real pain in the hard disc once it infiltrates your computer system. All of a sudden that butter smooth process of gliding from file to file, web page to web page and program and program becomes like a slow motion movie. Once your computer has been tainted with a virus it is no longer a pleasant window to the World, it has become a monster that some sick fiend has seemingly poisoned to work against you.
Once a computer virus has infected your computer, there is nothing to be done but bite the virtual bullet. This means consulting with a computer technician to assess the extent of the damage and what is involved in repairing it. This normally involves formatting the operating system and hard disc drives, something that can be especially heart-breaking if items of sentimental value such as family photographs have been stored there without back up.
The only good thing about a computer virus is that because of its relative primitiveness it shows itself almost immediately, whereas some of the more toxic items of malicious software (malware) that have been designed to ease themselves into a computer can do much more damage. These are the Trojan horses and worms that can steal sensitive and confidential information not only on the computer it initially invade, but also other computers that may be linked to it.
That’s why every computer owner who surfs the web or uses its facilities for any reason must address the issue of protecting themselves from the ongoing problem of computer viruses. Computer viruses have become one of the 21st centuries realities and there is no escaping that fact.
Way back in the nineteen nineties, the only way that viruses could be spread was from floppy disks (remember them) that had had a fairly simple virus injected into it, and then passed from one user to another. In those days, when the average random access memory (RAM)was around 25 MB and the hard disc 80 MB, how much damage could be done? In 2009, when computers are powerful enough to download movies that are ten times that size, and RAM and hard disc capacity have expanded accordingly, it is possible to understand why the need to install a powerful and trustworthy anti-virus software program is something that have moved beyond the stage of being an option. It is a responsibility.
