One Good Reason for McAfee Internet Security for Mac
In April 2010 experts detected a Trojan known as OSX/HellRTS. The detection of a new Trojan is unfortunately so common that it is rarely news worthy, but something made this Trojan a little unique. Instead of attacking PCs, as many of the most common viruses do, this one was designed specifically for OSX – the Macintosh operating system.
OSX/HellRTS was a relatively benign virus; a jokester designed to irritate users and interfere with their ability to enjoy their computers. The Trojan would read or modify the contents of the clipboard files and sometimes cause the CD drive to open without apparent cause.

Other variants of the HellRaiser Trojan Horse allow predators complete control of the infected computer. This allows the remote attacker to transfer files into the computer and also to steal files from the computer. This Trojan Horse has also been known to provide remote predators with the ability to insert pop up chat messages, display pictures, and even broadcast spoken messages onto the infected computer.
As a result, experts suggest that Mac users take their security needs seriously and reconsider if they have previously thought Macs were impenetrable. According to an article in MacWorld, Mac users need to remember that there are plenty of “nasties to watch out for online”.
MacWorld recommends McAfee Internet Security for Mac for users that would like protection from threatening web sites, including dangerous shopping sites. The program can also scan incoming mail and IM attachments, as well as repair files that have been damaged.
