How low can they go - hackers take advantage of Royal engagement to attack the public as they celebrate?

Prince William's long anticipated official announcement of his engagement to long-time partner Kate Middleton was greeted with much happiness by the UK public when it was announced just a week or so ago. Also celebrating was the computer hacking industry. Those people, who live in the cyber shadows waiting for any moment when excitement takes over from caution to catch computer owners with their defences momentarily, have struck again. Internet security experts estimate that several bogus news announcements regarding the impending royal wedding were immediately set up in order to lure the joyful and unsuspecting into their web of deceit.

These bogus search results instead lead surfers to a malicious web page that will infect a user's computer with malware under the guise of good news.

Internet security experts were not surprised that when news of the Royal engagement broke that hackers immediately swung into action. It has become fairly common practice for hackers to take advantage of a hot news event that is drawing loads of breaking news internet traffic. One of the favourite spots for bogus news is sports sites as well as any kind of sites that focus on celebrity news.

This recent attack on the sensibilities only goes to show how far hackers are prepared to go. They increasingly demonstrate that they are capable of successfully penetrating an unprotected computer's defences.

For example, the hackers behind planting these false news stories play upon the inexperience of web surfers who still resist installing a proper and effective anti virus software program believing that computer virus attacks can't happen to them. While the leading search engines play a very active part in keeping their software as free of virus infiltration as the possibly can ultimately it remains the responsibility of each and every computer owner or user to make sure that they are doing all they can to protect themselves from hackers. There are no short cuts in this ongoing war and hackers will use every means possible to infiltrate a victim's computer.

It comes down to the fact that the only means of protection is to install the most powerful and sophisticated anti-virus protection available on the market. No one deserves to have a happy occasion spoiled by becoming the prey to hackers with all the financial damage and tremendous inconvenience caused.

Don't let spoil these precious moments that we have all been waiting for!
