Statistics show that the longer you spend online the more likely you are to be hacked
There are those that say that statistics can be altered to show a different reality. However there is no escaping them. Mostly because they turn out to be the truth.
One disturbing statistic that has recently surfaced after some fairly extensive research has shown that the longer that someone spends online, the more likely they are to be the victim of some kind of virus attack.
The same statistics that unearthed the longevity factor has also narrowed don another interesting but not surprising fact. And that is it's not only how long you spend online that represents a danger but on which you spend most of your time.
Computer hackers are very cunning people and they are on a constant look out for "chinks in armour. For instance they constantly target those people who spend a lot of time surfing social media sites where security is lax, and the many teenagers or those in their twenties who make up the majority of the site's visitors or not as aware of concerned about the threat of computer viruses as they should be.
It has to be said that "glamour" web sites or ones that cater for online casino lovers have been victims of hacker attacks in the past, however in recent years they have made a lot of effort to keep their sites virus free. However there is always a risk that a hacker will set up a bogus site and catch some surfers with their defenses down.
Sadly these days there is nothing too innocent about surfing the net and anyone who doesn't take the proper steps to protect their information will, sooner rather than later, fall victim to some form of virus attack. Bogus sites and dodgy links and e-mail attachments are a way of life, and there is nothing that can be done about them. Apart from being very cautious where we surf, what we open and most importantly what kind of anti-virus we install. Many people only discover before it is too late the damage that a virus invasion can cause, and how poorly equipped most of the" cheap and friendly" anti-virus programs that can be downloaded online are to cope with them.
No matter how much time you spend online you may be liable to fall victim to a hacker if you are unprotected, that's why it is vitally important to install a powerful and sophisticated anti-virus program. That way you can surf in safety and for as long as we want, (and wherever too).
