Latest Virus Threat Comes At You Through Your
USB Drive
Anyone who has very seen a horror film where zombies and/or mutants come out only at night to try and drink the blood of innocent victims and survivors of a nuclear attack or genetically engineered plague will know what computer owners are going through. These zombies/mutants/hackers will be on the lookout for any chink in the fortresses / computer's armoured so that they can break through in great numbers and attack you jugular vein/personal identity.
The latest possible chink has been discovered, and it is no less an innocent and unexpected place than a USB flash drive. A potential threat that has been named as the largest, at least for the time being.
Other forms of virus attacks that have become particularly wide spread in the last few months are through the AutoRun facility, as well as the old favourites of password-stealing Trojans.
Another source of forced entry becoming popular among the hacking community are web sites that offer forged bogus qualification diplomas, further reinforcing the theory that people who surf in places where they shouldn't are much more susceptible to virus attacks than those who follow a more secure path.
Online computer security sources point to the Far East, and China, Thailand South Korea and Vietnam as being the World leaders in computer hacking schemes in the their various formats, Eastern Europe and South America also being major players in the dark side of computer software development.
While the US remains as the number one nation for internet use, they also hold the highest percentage of those who have been victims of some form of computer fraud, with 98 percent of the global computer population who host "poisoned links" being found there.
While there is little that can be done to protect yourself against mutants and zombies who can live in the darkness for a thousand years or more, the good news is that you can effectively protect yourself against any form of computer virus, as they evolve. The first thing is to realise is that life is not a film show, and virus threats are real. The only effective means of protection is to install a reliable and powerful software program, and not one that you can download for nothing through the internet. Instead ask Buffy the Vampire slayer if she got her magic sword without paying a price.
