Beware of Wolves in Sheep's Clothing. Steer Clear of Dodgy Antivirus Software Offers
Like the famous children's tale of Little Red Riding Hood getting swallowed whole by the wolf disguised by the favourite grandmother, too many gullible computer owners are at risk of being eaten alive by something that looks very friendly from the outset, but is, in reality, a real enemy. An enemy which is capable of doing some very real damage to a computer and its security systems.
This enemy, that come from within, are rogue anti-virus programs, which suddenly pop-up on some unsuspecting person's computer and offer them coverage and protection against all manner of computer viruses. The very fact that they "pop-up" uninvited should be sufficient warning for most folks, but unfortunately there are still loads of people who still believe in fairy tales.
The sad truth is that most of these "freemartin-virus programs are malicious software in its most viral format, capable of invading a computer and accessing the inner depths of its security systems, and using or passing on sensitive and personal details of the computer's owner and/or operator to various hostile bodies who will know to take full advantage of it for their own nefarious gains. Even worse they may set up your computer to become a "zombie" in a future botnet scam. In other words, once your computer's defences have been laid bare, then its open season what they can do to you.
So what should you do when someone offers you a free anti- virus scan when you are surfing the web. Just as you would think twice if some dubious looking character offered you a dodgy looking product on some street corner on the bad side of town, so you should regard anti-virus programs that appear to have fallen off the back of a virtual lorry. You should steer well clear of them.
Virus protection is of the utmost importance and should never be taken lightly. That's why serious thought should be taken on how to best protect a computer and the information it contains. Proper protection never is provided other than through the most powerful software that is available on the market today. As hacker attacks are constantly updating themselves, so should the software that is installed on your computer. That means software provided by genuine industry professionals whose business it is to keep themselves up to date on all the latest threats and how to counteract them.
