Iraq War Veteran Discovers Importance of Protecting His PC
Explains Nelson, "McAfee is really on top of their game.
They are 100 percent committed"
As a former Marine - with three tours in Iraq - Jake Nelson understands the importance of protection and reliability. Now a student, Jake relies on the same dependability for his personal laptop computer. Jake uses McAfee® VirusScan® Plus to protect his computer from online threats.
Ever since he got high-speed Internet, Jake has always used anti-virus software. Jake explains that once high-speed Internet became more advanced, he noticed the direct advancement of computer viruses as well. He realized that having high-speed Internet meant that he was at risk 24/7 for information theft, viruses, worms, and Trojan horses.
"I learned the hard way," Jake continued. "When I lived in the barracks, I didn't have anti-virus software on my computer, and a virus wiped out my hard drive. I had to reinstall Windows® and start all over again. It was a mess! Since installing McAfee AntiVirus Plus, though, that has never happened again."
While serving in the military, Jake relied on the Internet wherever he was in the world. "The Internet is very important to me," Jake said. "When I was in Iraq, I stayed in touch by email constantly with people back home. We had computers with satellite Internet connections during my last two deployments. The troops there are well connected to the web."
The biggest online threat, according to Jake, is the threat of spyware - since it is so easily downloaded. As a result, Jake explains, he needs to use a strong anti-virus scanner on his computer to be sure that his information is protected. Jake wouldn't take any risks - that's why he trusts McAfee to protect his computer.
"McAfee is really on top of their game," Jake said. "Even when an especially devious virus comes out that uses a lot of tricks to make its way onto peoples' systems, McAfee has deployed a solution within a couple of hours. I especially like that their chat support walks me though any fixes I need to take care of the problem. They are 100% committed."
Everything in McAfee AntiVirus Plus is self-contained and always working - that's why Jake trusts and relies on McAfee. It informs him if there is a problem - which is a great benefit because it can be an arduous task to try to spend time maintaining all aspects of his security. Jake loves that McAfee offers the simplicity of a yearly subscription and that McAfee protects his personal information every time he turns on his laptop.
Jake is concerned about the future of online identity theft and viruses. Because computers have become such an integral aspect of people's lives, if something happens to the Internet, it will affect everyone's lives. This is where the challenge lies, according to Jake. And while the risks may change, Jake's online security plan will remain the same: "I'll stick with McAfee," he concludes. "It's the best, and I highly recommend it!"
