It's Your Identity. Protect It.
With one in four households in the United States victims of identity theft, this growing crime is beginning to become a daily aspect of life in Europe. As a result, it has become imperative to defend yourself on and off line. Identity theft takes on many shapes and forms. Identity thieves have the ability to take information from bills and bank statements in household rubbish. These thieves also can divert mail to another post office box and gather all information in those diverted documents. They will even use phone-based surveying to con you and your financial institution.
Whenever possible, make a paper shredder your best friend. Shred all documents containing important documentation that could be used with identity theft. As soon as you miss a bank statement, make sure you contact your bank and enquire into the reasons behind the missed bank statement. Encourage your family to carry as little personal information in your wallet as possible.

Educate your family about the security risks and viruses associated with spyware and adware programs. Wireless protection software prevents these programs from installing.
If you are accessing the Internet from a Wi-Fi network, your computer may have an additional security risk. All it takes is a hacker with a simple scanner to attack your computer from only hundreds of feet away.
